In 2003, Wei-Jen Yuan was awarded 5th in the 1st Taiwanese International Piano Competition, and has also placed as semifinalist in competitions such as Montreal, Cleveland, and Arthur Rubinstein in Tel Aviv, Israel. As a cultural ambassador for music and the arts, Wei-Jen was chosen from an international pool of Taiwanese nationals, and won the scholarship award of $20,000 from the Taiwanese Government, full travel subsidy, and concert appearances throughout Taiwan. He has recently appeared with Taiwan National Symphony, Schenectady Symphony, Catskill Symphony, Utica Symphony, Hudson Philharmonic, and Juilliard Orchestra.
